Entries for canceled classes will be refunded. Jackpot classes are paid back regardless of number of horses in class. PRIZE MONEY: Checks will be available at the show office after the close of the show and must be cashed within 60 days of date of issuance. NO CHECKS WILL BE MAILED. Exhibitors will be required to sign for prize money and payback checks can not be used as payment toward show fees. NO SHOW: To expedite the flow of classes, scratches must be reported to the Show Office or Gate before the beginning of the class. If scratches are not reported a $10.00 “NO SHOW” fee will be assessed per class. The Great Lakes Arabian Horse Association, or the Dickinson County Fairgrounds, will not be responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage to horses exhibited; any article of any kind or nature that may be lost, destroyed, or in any way damaged. Each exhibitor will be responsible for any injury that may occur to any person or animal or damage to any property while on the grounds by any horse owned or exhibited by him/her and shall indemnify the management against all legally established claims or damages of any kind or nature that may grow out of any injury occasioned by any horse owned or exhibited by him/her or any horse. All dogs must be confined to a leash at all times. No dogs will be allowed in the show arena at any time.
STABLING: Two nights of stabling only (Fri-Sat). Horses accepted after
USEF RULE: Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance therein. Questions not covered by USEF rules shall be decided by the show committee and that decision will be final.
USEF MEMBERSHIP RULE: Life, Senior Active, and Junior Active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at regular member competitions, combined training at the preliminary level or above, and combined driving events at the intermediate level or above, dressage and vaulting competitions, and endurance rides provided the respective breed/discipline dues or breed/discipline category fee has been paid. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, or trainer at regular member competitions, combined training events, dressage competitions and combined driving competitions upon payment of a $20.00 non-member fee and a $5.00 breed/discipline category fee for each breed/discipline. Jr. riders will be assessed a $20.00 non-member fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule: 1.Leadline 2.Exhibitions 3.Games and races 4.Classes for 4-H members 5.Walk trot and academy classes 6.USDF Introductory level tests, Pas De Deux and quadrille classes. Also exempted from this requirement are residents of other nations who are members in good standing of their national federation.
ARENA: The Dickinson County Fairgrounds has a warm up arena with sand footing. The competition arena is covered with an outside dimension of 100 ft. x 200 ft. and an inside rail measurement of 85 ft. x 175 ft. The footing is a sand clay mix.
CAMPGROUNDS: RUSTIC CAMPING ONLY IN DESIGNATED AREA. NO ELECTRIC HOOKUPS! A $10.00 daily rate must be paid to the Show Secretary. If electric is installed this will increase to $20.00. A camping certificate must be displayed on camper at all times. Anyone plugging into electric outlets will be subject to removal from the show grounds-enforced by the Fire Marshall. STALLIONS: Stallions may be shown in Ladies and Junior classes but are restricted from Showmanship and Leadline Classes
ABBREVIATION & TERMS OF CLASS SPECIFICATIONS:
NO HUNT ATTIRE IN ENGLISH PLEASURE OR COUNTRY ENGLISH PLEASURE CLASSES
AHA SADDLESEAT EQUITATION QUALIFYING CLASS: Open to juniors who have not yet reached their 18th birthday prior to December 1st. A rider must win a class to earn the required number of points to qualify for the finals competition. Winner of each class will receive the AHA medal. Following the rail work, (2) or more individual tests from the USAE rule book will be required of at least 10 contestants, if available. To fill a class, (3) competitors with proper appointments must be entered, shown and judged.
AHA STOCK SEAT EQUITATION QUALIFYING CLASS: Same as above Saddleseat equitation specifications. All contestants are required to perform both the rail work and the entire Stock horse pattern as outlined in the Western Division in the USAE rules. Dropping of the bit is optional with the judge: assistance may be taken from one of the ring officials. Reins will not be removed from the horse’s neck while inspecting bits. To fill a class, (3) competitors with proper appointments must be entered, shown and judged.
AHA HUNTERSEAT EQUITATION QUALIFYING CLASS: Open to Juniors who have not yet reached their 18th birthday prior to December 1. Following the rail work all contestants are required to perform two or more individual tests from AHA (Art. 1237.9). To fill a class, three (3) competitors with proper appointments must be entered, shown and judged.
PERFORMANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS: To be eligible to show in a performance championship class, a horse must have been properly entered, shown and judged in at least one of the corresponding qualifying classes in the same section. HORSES PLACING 1-3 IN QUALIFYING CLASSES DESIGNATED BY ++ MUST SHOW OR FORFEIT ALL PRIZE MONEY WON IN THE QUALIFYING CLASS. Horses placing 1-3 in qualifying classes designated by + may show in the championship but are not required to do so.
AMATEURS: All exhibitors in Amateur or Amateur Owner to Ride, Drive or Handle classes must have in their possession a current amateur certification issued by USEF or make application for such certification prior to exhibiting in these classes. Application may be secured in the horse show office. Combined ownership is not permitted in Amateur Owner classes unless owners are members of the same family. Ownership name must be the same on registration papers as on entry sheet. If not, there must be a present copy of dated sale papers.
AHA MEMBERSHIP: All participants must be members of AHA and present a photocopy of their AHA membership card to the Show Office, or pay a $10.00 single event membership fee per horse, per show. “Participants” include “at least one recorded owner, and all trainers, drivers, riders, halter handlers, and the person(s) signing the entry blank.” Walk/trot, Leadline, and Stick Horse classes are exempt from this requirement. When the owner is listed on the registration paper as a farm, ranch, syndicate, partnership, corporation or business entity, a farm/ranch/syndicate/partnership/corporate membership in AHA is required.
Any owner, trainer, driver, rider or halter handler who exhibits horses in the show ring or signs the entry form as a responsible person for any individual’s horses at the show, must be a member of AHA or pay an additional $10.00 per horse. Any person under the age of 18 as of December 1st of the previous calendar year who exhibits a horse in the show ring must be member of AHA as defined in the Handbook, as AHA Youth Member, or pay an additional fee of $10.00 per horse.
REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS: Purebred Arabian horses to be shown must be registered with the Arabian Horse Registry of America and/or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry, if less than one year of age, be eligible for registration, and registration must have been applied for. Horses must be entered under their full registered name, registration number, and sire and dam must appear on the entry blank. HALF-ARABIAN AND ANGLO-ARABIANS must be registered with the AHA in the Half-Arabian and/or Anglo-Arabian Registry or, if under one year of age, be eligible for registration and registration must have been applied for. In the case of Half-Arabians, sire or dam must be a purebred Arabian registered in the Arabian Horse Registry of America and/or Canadian Arabian Horse Registry. The purebred parents must appear on the entry blank.
VETERINARIAN INSPECTION: All animals are subject to, at Show committee discretion, a physical inspection, free of charge, by the show veterinarian as a safeguard against communicable equine diseases. Any examination or treatment not required by Show officials shall be on a “private practice” basis
2009 NEGATIVE COGGINS TEST REQUIRED: Negative results to be shown when entries are received at the show office. It is suggested that a copy be enclosed with your entry.
DRUGS & MEDICATIONS: Each recognized show must assess the exhibitors a fee of $15.00 per horse in all divisions.
PA SYSTEM: Due to possible unforeseen problems with any mechanical device, the PA system & class calls over that system are considered a courtesy. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to have his/her horse at the gate at the designated time. While every effort will be made to maintain a working PA system, no protest will be upheld nor any section changed on the basis of a PA breakdown.
Calls for classes will be called promptly. First call when second class enters the ring, second call when preceding class enters the ring, third call when ribbons are being awarded in the preceding class. A three minute tack change will be allowed if the gate person has been notified at least two classes in advance.
ENTRY FORMS: (Required to enter)
1. Copy of BOTH sides of registration papers.
2. Copies of USEF membership cards for each owner, trainer, rider, handler, driver exhibiting a horse or $30.00 non-member fee plus a senior amateur fee of $30.00
3. Copies of AHA membership cards of each owner, trainer, rider, handler, driver exhibiting a horse or $30.00 single event fee. Junior exhibitors must have their own number or pay $30.00
4. Copies of USEF Amateur Cards must be provided.
5. Copy of current Negative Coggins Test of all entered horses.
6. Entry form with all necessary information and signatures.
7. A signed check made payable to GLAHA covering all fees. Any entries received without payment will be considered POST entries.
*NO PACKETS WILL BE GIVEN IF ENTRIES ARE INCOMPLETE*
REFUNDS: Refunds will be made in full upon presentation of a valid Vet certificate, if presented before the closing date of the show. After the closing date, refunds for classes entered will be refunded upon presentation of a valid Vet Certificate prior to the time the class enters the ring. NO REFUNDS FOR STALLS WILL BE MADE AFTER THE CLOSING DATE OF THE SHOW.

ARABIAN FREESTYLE
JACKPOT
Open to Purebred Arabians Only. Horses are to be shown without tack or equipment. A two-minute time limit will be allowed for each horse in the class. No more than two handlers per horse are allowed in the ring at one time.
Handlers will lead horse to designated marker. Handlers may not stand horse at halter. Time and music will start (when halter is removed. It will expire at the signal of the Time Keeper; at this time handlers have two minutes to retrieve horse or be penalized. While at liberty, the horse may perform at any gait. Any horse performing any tricks or acts under the apparent control and/or command of the handler(s) shall be disqualified. Horses may NOT have any glitter on any part of its body. Handler(s) may not use any sound makers or stimulating devices to encourage movement of the horse. Handler(s) shall not touch, ride or handle the horse at any time from entrance into the show ring until after the expiration of the time limit. The use of a standard show whip is allowed.
Each entry will furnish a music CD for their performance. The CD must be marked with the horse’s name, entry number, and at the point of readiness for the beginning of the horse’s performance. Three judges will score each horse. Scoring system from 1-10 in five categories: type, presence, animation, movement, and performance with a possible high score of 50 will be used.
These classes are not USEF-Rated or AHA approved classes for points. The Show Committee shall handle all disputes and inquiries and their decision shall be final.
Entries will be limited to first 20 entries received.
